Requesting Scanner Time

If you would like to propose a study involving MRI we have outlined below a stepwise procedure that should help get you started. You will also find a link to download the application and a helpful checklist of requirements to keep you on track. If you have any questions please contact BRIC technical director at xguo@bsd.uchicago.edu or call 773-834-7612.

Step 1: The Research Application

The Principal Investigator should contact our research center for an application form. Alternately clicking the Research Application link can download the MS word version.

Step 2: Submit Application

The Principal Investigator submits the application to our technical director who will then distribute it to the BRIC protocol committee.

Step 3: Application Approval

When the BRIC protocol committee approves the application our technical director will review the "requirements for scheduling" checklist and then contact the PI. The PI and staff will then be able to register for the next scheduled safety meeting.

Step 4: Scheduling Scan Time

Once the PI and staff have completed the safety training, scan time may be scheduled with our technologist. Our normal scanning time is Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.. We prefer users to register the scans by using our online schedule system. You should schedule your scans at least 24 hours ahead the scans. The system will not allow you to schedule if the time interval is less than 24 hours. If this case occurs, you have to email or call us to schedule your scans.
